Lifting the Lid – How does "Out Of The Box Management" really work?

Thinking out of the box takes effort as a manager. On occasion a leader will get into a rut and do things the same way, but guess what? That manager will also get the same results which is not always the goal.  How can a manager be more innovative and rally a team to be more productive and more creative while achieving goals?

When leaders discover the gifts that each team member possesses, they find that they have tapped into what their employees find passionate. In his action-packed speech, Branden will bring to light the tools and tips that he used in the Armed Forces to motivate teams to the next level.

Participants will learn:

•       The art of relationship building – no crayons needed

•       How to tap into the natural gifts of team members and inspire learning and creativity

•       How to creatively change gears when hurdles stop you in your tracks

•       How to have inner passion when work passion is waning

•       How to creatively give your team ownership – creating an owner vs. renter mentality

•         Effective tools to help become more resilient.

Mentoring the Minuth Way

Most successful people will share with you that they had a mentor. Mentors can be very valuable when trying to get ahead in the corporate world. Mentors can be people in your field of work who have accomplished things you wish to accomplish, or role models in your everyday life that model the type of behavior and outlook on life you desire to embody.

Branden believes that we frequently mirror the behavior of people around us. That is why it is so important to do a self-evaluation and make sure we are surrounding ourselves with the right people. If we are surrounded by people who exhibit negative behaviors, we start to see our actions mimic their behaviors. But if we try to be with people who have positive energy, we are naturally drawn to inherit the same behavior because happiness is contagious.

When you start to mirror the behavior of those around you and they do the same with you, the mentoring partnership is established. Mentoring partnerships are often overlooked because they don’t come in the traditional mold most people think a mentoring partnership should fall in. But these mentoring partnerships in the relationships around you are essential to your success.

What is this mentoring partnership? What are traits you should look for in a mentor? How can you become a more impactful mentor? Why is even having or being a mentor so crucial?

Branden answers these questions and many more in detail by elaborating on…

• Finding what attracts us to certain people/ how do we find inspiration

     o Unique successes

     o Similar field as you

• Looking out for everyday mentors

o Mentors who aren’t even mentors in the moment

o Turning to a stranger as a mentor

• Being drawn to positive energy

o There is always an example to be followed, these is always improvement to be done in your attitude and in your life

• Mentoring partnership

o Mentorships don’t have an age requirement

o Modeling behavior of someone younger

Challenge Solving Leadership

A good leader is a challenge-solver; someone who can adapt to any situation, take calculated risks, make vision and strategy a priority, and most of all, guide employees to do their best by being supportive and uplifting.

To be a leader, the necessary characteristics don’t stop with finding balance.   A great leader brings passion and inspires those around you into working more effectively. Discover rich storytelling and messages that can help change organizational cultures into a cohesive team while leading under fire.

Great leaders do 5 things that get results for the team:

Communicator

• Understand the language necessary to reach
and get your point across to peers

• Vocal and body language… it’s the little things

• What are you doing in your everyday lifestyle
when others are looking at your for for
       guidance?

The leadership role doesn’t stop when you walk out of the house, out of the office doors, etc. It continues everyday 24/7

• Trailblazer

• Don’t be afraid to go your own path!

Courage and Confidence

• New organization or message you’re trying to
convey, how do you step up to the plate and
      share your vision?

role model and everyone else’s around you?

       mistakes

relatable follower who makes you feel
comfortable is an easier one to follow

Embracing Diversity

More and more, we are encountering environments where diversity is prevalent. We see it in the news and media now more than ever before. In today’s society, a successful team is often composed of different colors/ race, genders, sexual preferences, religious beliefs- a more successful representation of society. Without being knowledgeable on how to embrace diversity, teams run into conflict surrounding team member’s differences rather than successes. Not only did Branden learn how effectively work with people from different backgrounds through his experiences in the armed forces, but he also has learned how to appreciate and learn about the various cultures that he encountered on his extensive travels as a navy seal.

One of Branden’s takeaways from fighting alongside those of different races, cultures, and personal beliefs is that your strengths can be someone else’s weaknesses, and your weaknesses can be someone else’s strengths. More times than not, that is how a team is molded together.

The transition from acquaintances to becoming a brotherhood of soldiers willing to sacrifice their lives for each other, despite differences, has become one of Branden’s areas of expertise. This ability to set differences aside and work together as a team is an asset that is applicable to any business. The key is keeping perspectives set on the same mission: every member of a team is working toward achieving success of the same goal.

No matter what your field, you at one point or another will work alongside someone you flat out don’t agree with or like. But the key to working together is to concentrate on the things your team members do well, because that will help you overcome barriers. Gaining a new perspective and set of eyes on a mission can be incredibly valuable because it allows you to see things from a different angle.

Branden will help audiences embrace diversity in the workplace through…

• Understanding what your weaknesses are and owning them

• Finding team members whose strengths are your weaknesses

• Understanding the value in gaining different perspectives

• Burying ignorance behind and being open-minded towards other cultures
